Our Client in Washington DC is seeking a Web Systems Administrator / Engineer / Webmaster for a 6 month contract beginning asap. This person will work in a fast paced environment managing the new infrastructure encompassing over 50 physical servers, and many other components. This is a rare opportunity to work with the existing team to manage the entire infrastructure from the bottom up and almost all components in the full stack.
This person needs to be able to quickly understand complex infrastructures and configurations, adapt and be able to solve technical problems working from the front end to the backend. Application troubleshooting skills also required. Not seeking typical system administrator has to be someone with experience outside of just traditional sys admin.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. 5+ years experience with Linux system administration (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar OS).
2. 3+ Experience managing public facing, front end web servers/web sites, including configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting.
3. 3+ years experience with Apache server configuration and management.
4. 3+ years experience with JBoss application server configuration and management.
5. 3+ years experience shell scripting and/or other programming (Perl, Python) to accomplish various tasks.
6. 3+ years MySQL Database configuration and management experience.
7. 1+ year experience managing/administering Content Management Systems (CMS).
8. Firm understanding and experience with TCP/IP networking concepts and principles.
9. Firm understanding and experience working with both hardware (Netscreen preferable) and software (iptables) based firewalls.
10. Strong security background and experience.
11. Firm grasp of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, AJAX, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby on Rails
12. Familiarity with various monitoring tools and experience dealing with a web site that has high SLA objectives.
13. Hands on experience with F5 load balancers, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
14. Must be a US CITIZEN or PERMANENT RESIDENT able to work W2 to qualify - unable to sponsor Visas at this time
PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED
1. JBoss and/or MySQL database optimization and tuning experience.
2. Netscreen Firewall appliance management and configuration.
3. Red Hat Network for administering systems, applying patches
4. DNS configuration experience/management and firm understanding.
5. Working knowledge and experience with version control systems, preferably Subversion (SVN) or CVS.
6. Experience with rsync, scp, cron, at, sed, awk desired.
7. Content Management System (CMS) configuration and management experience (Day Communiqu preferred).
8. Apache rewriting, including using to accomplish various tasks from proxy to IP based blocking.
9. Hands on experience with SELinux enabled servers, including managing rule sets, and troubleshooting.
10. SQL experience and troubleshooting. Ideally be able to write SQL statements to check integrity of databases. Other Requirements
11. On-call job will require being part of an on-call rotation for 24/7/365 support
12. After Hours job will require after hours work on periodic basis for maintenance events.
13. Shift Work job may also require shifts outside or beyond normal business hours. (example 3 pm 11 pm)
COMPENSATION/COMMENTS:
M-F 9:00am - 5pm
$53/hr (DOE) - Plus APR Medical/Dental Benefits package, 401k plan, etc.. - benefits available shortly into this contract (30+ days - starting with the 1st of the following month of the start date).
If an offer is made, a 7 year criminal background check and education verification will be conducted. Candidate must be pass both screenings to be hired.
