Description
We currently have an opportunity for a Data Architect in South Portland, OR.

The Data Architect will check all business engagements, both internal as well external, to ensure that the databases are developed and delivered to meet data architecture standards. In addition, describe how data is processed, stored, and utilized within the enterprise. Also, work with external partners to define data exchange requirements and define how those requirements are integrated into the internal enterprise.
The Data Architect will work with other architects to drive business value to the client organizations through innovative applications. In addition provide a bridge between the strategic direction of the business, identifying the logic of how internal and external entities are related to enterprise goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain data architecture best practices and standards
- Set Data Policy and the technical solution for the management, storage, accessibility, reusability, quality, navigation, movement, and transformation of data
- Examine and enforce opportunities to provide data reuse, balancing the issues of centralization
and replication
- Provide leadership on projects related to Business Intelligence, analytics and reporting
- Evaluate and improve data design methodology and propose alternatives and solutions to meet
business needs
- Collaborate with Database Administrators, Developers, and Analysts on all aspects of data
management
- Objectively participate in design critiques
- Prioritize and help deliver all data management initiatives on time/cost/budget
Skills and abilities
- Knowledge of data architecture design and commercial frameworks that implement the
data design patterns
- Experience integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform, multitasking
operating systems environments
- Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server etc.
- Experience creating logical and physical data models for OLTP and data
warehouse environments
- Understanding of application and database performance requirements and ensuring
performance through evaluations and improvements
- Proficient in Extract Transform and Load (ETL) process and technology
- Knowledge base in commercially available data models
- Knowledge of SDLC including methodologies such as RUP
Education and experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- Advanced degree in computer science and technology preferred
- Minimum of ten years experience in IT, including five years experience as a Data Architect
