Our client, a Major Global Financial Services Firm is seeking a Cognos Developer with Java. Andiamo Partners represents numerous financial firms as a Tier I recruiting vendor.
Cognos Developer
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Cognos SDK, Web Services and OOP techniques
Knowledge of HTML scripting and Java development
Composite Server, portals/portlets, other Cognos components, and ability to configure and administer them
Knowledge of Active Directory/Directory Server/Site-Minder/Custom Java provider or other types of authentication and authorization services
Knowledge of Cognos 8 security architecture and management
Proven experience of data warehouse modeling and design
Strong problem solving & analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Have a "can do" attitude, great listening skills and effective delivery of technology.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with data warehouse users and report authors to develop system requirements, specifications, and designs.
Meet with users to plan and develop detailed requirements.
Report Creation:
Lead the effort to develop Cognos reports against the Financial data warehouse.
Work with end users to develop reports using Cognos ReportNet and PowerPlay.
Help develop and ensure reporting standards across CSM applications.
General Support:
Design and implementation of the Cognos reporting infrastructure.
Resolve system problems as required.
Provide Cognos application expertise and training to software developers and fellow data warehouse team members as needed.
EXPERIENCE:
5+ years professional experience including:
Strong Cognos 8 development skills, report design and associated best practices
Expert with Cognos 8 Framework Manager modeling and techniques
Strong Cognos 8 performance analysis and tuning skills, and knowledge of associated best practices
Strong knowledge of Cognos 8 BI (Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio, PowerPlay Studio), Cognos Controller, Cognos Planning
Experience with Cognos Office Connection and CAFÉ
Experience with full software development life-cycle
Strong knowledge of data warehousing, reporting, and analytic solutions
Knowledge on RDBMS such as MS SQL Server and database performance optimization and tuning as it pertains to reporting and analytic solutions
Knowledge of tools and techniques to troubleshoot and debug Cognos 8 issues
Knowledge of IIS/Tomcat configuration and optimization a plus
Experience in the financial services industry preferred.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science, Business Administration.
