Project Description:

Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for server installation, configuration, and administration. This position is critical to the maintenance and security of our end custommers network. In order for the incumbent to perform effectively, continuing education in the Information Technology sector is required. The Senior Systems Administrator*s skill includes network administration as well as server administration.

The Senior Systems Administrator must display a variety of skills in order to be successful. One of the most important skills that the Senior Systems Administrator needs to have is the ability to communicate effectively on a variety of levels. They must understand technical terminology and be able to translate these terms into a form understandable by end users. The Senior Systems Administrator must be able to diagnose problems and perform research to answer questions. Problems will often arise which the Senior Systems Administrator has not experienced. The ability to research and implement solutions is required. The Senior Systems Administrator must be self-supervised and motivated. The ability to prioritize jobs and schedule when to do them and how to do them without assistance from supervisory staff is critical.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

* Install, deploy, maintain, update, troubleshoot and backup Windows and Linux-based servers. All servers rely on network connectivity. The Senior Systems Administrator works directly with servers, workstations, tape drives and other peripherals as necessary. * Configure and oversee backups of data on servers for disaster recovery purposes. Evaluate and modify disaster recovery procedures as necessary. * Determine requirements for new servers based on project requirements. * Creating / Updating Windows server support documentation as it relates to project assignments. * Evaluate and determine workstation configurations and printer requirements for end users. * Configure workstations and provide ongoing support for software update services. * Assist in the installation of network equipment and cabling. Perform setups to meet user needs. * Assist in monitoring production systems to ensure maximum uptime, security and performance. * Assist in evaluating, planning, and determining new projects. * Execute assigned projects. * Maintain current knowledge of the Information Technology profession through classes, seminars, presentations and published materials. * Maintain and provide ongoing support for Active Directory servers within the customer network. * Provide ongoing support for the customer Security Information Management platform. * Provide ongoing support for the help desk ticketing system. * Ensure all servers follow and meet current security requirements set by the approved management entities within the organization. Qualifying Experience and Attributes:
br> * Expert level knowledge of Citrix Presentation and Secure Gateway products. * Possess some knowledge of BMC Remedy Action Request System 7.X. in conjunction with ITSM and CM modules. * Strong working knowledge and expert troubleshooting skills of core Microsoft technologies including: o Server operating systems (Windows 2000, 2003, 2008 server * x86 & x64) o Desktop operating systems (Windows XP, Vista) o Active Directory design, implementation, and support o Basic network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP o IIS (http/https/ftp/smtp) * Strong background in MS Exchange 2003/2007 implementation, administration, migration, and support skills. * Strong background in Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills (specifically RHEL 4 AS x64). * Strong background in netForensics SIMOne 4.X administration and troubleshooting. * Experience in administering network management and alerting software such as Solarwinds Orion NPM, Cisco Works, HP Openview, etc. * Specialized knowledge and experience with configuration, administration, performance tuning, and overall maintenance of MS SQL Server 2000/2005 products. * Experience with proactive patch management and system upgrades. * Experience with end point system protection packages from vendors such as McAfee, Symantec, etc. * In depth knowledge regarding HP/Dell server hardware and troubleshooting (specifically rack mount servers and peripherals).
